Every Dog Deserves Their Oasis
Every rescue has a beginning.
For Ozzy's Oasis, it began with two dogs named Ozzy.
The first was my own rescue dog, whose unconditional love forever changed the way I viewed the world and showed me the incredible resilience that exists within animals. He taught me that rescue isn't simply about saving lives —it's about allowing them the opportunity to truly live.
The second Ozzy carried a different story. He became a reminder of the heartbreaking reality that too many deserving dogs are failed—not because they are beyond help, but because there isn't enough time, enough resources, or enough people willing to believe in what they could become. Despite advocating for him and believing wholeheartedly in his potential, his story ended as one of the many lives lost within an overwhelmed shelter system.
His story never left me & Ozzy's Oasis was created in honor of both of them.
It exists because every dog deserves someone willing to see beyond fear, medical challenges, breed labels, or a difficult past. It exists because some dogs simply need more time, more patience, and someone willing to say "yes" when the world has already decided to say "no."
We know we cannot save every animal.
But we can ensure that every animal entrusted to our care receives everything we have to give.
MEET THE FOUNDER
For as long as I can remember, dogs have been at the center of my life. I started a neighborhood dog-walking business at 12, volunteered at my local shelter in college, and adopted my heart dog, Mali, at 20. What began as a lifelong love for dogs eventually became a life dedicated to saving them.
After moving to Charleston, I began fostering in 2018. My first foster, Rudy [pictured left], was considered dog-aggressive and challenged me in ways I never expected. Four months of patience, structure, and refusing to give up changed everything. Rudy learned to trust other dogs, found his forever home, and got me hooked on rescue.
Since then, I've fostered more than 150 dogs and cats while working in rescue leadership, shelter advocacy, social media, foster programming, and community outreach across South Carolina. Programs I've helped build have connected more than 2,000 shelter dogs with their communities and contributed to thousands of animals finding safety.
Along the way, I developed a special place in my heart for the dogs who need a little more—the medical cases, parvo puppies, and fearful or feral animals who simply need time and someone willing to believe in them.
After years of building programs and advocating for animals through other organizations, I knew it was time to take everything rescue had taught me and create something of my own.
Ozzy's Oasis Animal Rescue is the culmination of that journey.
My mission isn't only to rescue dogs. It's to inspire others to realize they can rescue, too—through fostering, adopting, volunteering, transporting, advocating, donating, or simply sharing a dog's story.
Because changing the world for an animal can start with something as simple as one person deciding to say yes.
When enough ordinary people decide to do something extraordinary for one animal, lives change—not just for the dogs, but for the people who choose to help them.
